The IGS or IMPACT GUIDANCE SYSTEM combines a number of interdependent and interconnected components that work together with the foot to create a more natural and healthy movement in all phases of the running stride. Every shoe with this IGS designation has been designed to be able to function at the absolute highest level with regard to the biomechanical requirements of the foot.
The IGS philosophy was originally intended for the running shoe category, but has gradually grown to cover a wide range of sports, be it running, walking, tennis or football. To support natural movement, Asics developers carefully examine the individual needs of the shoe in terms of biomechanical efficiency in a particular sport. The result of all this research, exploration and twenty years of development is probably the most sophisticated system ever made in a running shoe.
