The 9FORTY cut is a compromise between the 39THIRTY and 9FIFTY cuts. The cut is based on the 39THIRTY, but for size adjustment, a snapback, strapback or velcro is used, just like the 9FIFTY. Thanks to the cut, it is suitable for all face shapes, but not for large heads.

The New Era 9FORTY is a mix of the 39THIRTY and 9FIFTY cuts. This cut is similar to the 39THIRTY with a low crown and curved peak. But instead of a closed back and an elastic band, this cap has an open adjustable back with different types of closures (snapback, strapback, velcro).
Similar to the 9FIFTY , the 9FORTY fit is not suitable for larger head sizes as it may look too small on a large head. If you wear a fitted cap size 7 5/8, you're borderline. If you wear a larger size, the 9FORTY will feel too small on your head. For everyone else, the 9FORTY is the ideal cap for everyday wear.
